We did it! We successfully hosted Mr. Universe’s mom and daughter for seven days. It was my first time meeting them…and that meeting lasted seven days.
To his credit, he said they would be awesome and he was right. His mom is a lovely woman. She loves animals, told funny stories, and made some amazing lasagna. Oh, and Mr. Universe has her eyes.
His daughter is a beautiful, intelligent young lady. Always ready with a “please” and “thank you”….and a smile. She’s outgoing and engaging. Hearing the stories of the life of a 13 year old was enlightening and pretty funny. All I can say is, I’m glad I was 13 when I was. I can’t imagine being a kid today with Facebook…Instagram…cell phones.
Over the course of their visit we managed to take in the Children’s Museum, visit the zoo, go shopping, get pedis, rent bicycles, work out together, watch movies, and eat some yummy meals.
Probably most importantly, Mr. Universe and I didn’t kill each other. I mean, we’re still new to living together…brought home a puppy two weeks ago…and then hosted the family for seven days. In the midst of all that, I started teaching SUP yoga and decided to start another business. Any of those things on their own cause stress…significant stress. And we just decided to do them all at once.
Sure, we had a few moments…but overall, we made it…and are stronger for it.
