Eli’s mom sent me a Forbes article this morning about women in leadership positions and how when faced with fear (adversity), they grow into amazing leaders. Far surpassing what others…and probably themselves…thought they could accomplish.
I think this is true of any one in any position…in any position in life.
When we are faced with something that feels impossible to tackle yet somehow we find an inner strength…it’s our grit that grows us…evolves us…pushing us to our outer limits and allowing us to rise to the occasion.
The article was so good, I don’t feel the need to write much myself. Instead, I hope you use the time to read “How Terrifying Challenges Make Better Leaders”.
The only issue I take with the article is the author discounting her personal struggles in comparison to professional struggles.
As a former corporate executive that was pushed nearly to her breaking point, I think there’s rarely a professional challenge that teaches us more than the personal challenges we face. I mean, you can always find a new job, but you can never find a new life.
So don’t underestimate the importance of developing your grit…and applying it to your personal struggles. Enjoy the article!
