The Quantum Collective: Exploring Higher Self Communication and Quantum Consciousness

Laura Haehl

Updated: Feb 27

Well… we did it. Sort of.

When we sat down to figure out how to start this podcast, we didn’t expect to actually start recording our first episode in the process. But here we are—hitting record before we had all the answers, before we felt fully “ready,” and realizing that the only way to get better at this is to just do the thing.

What Even Is One Card Shy?

If you’re new here (which, let’s be real, everyone is because we literally just started), we’re Candy and Laura—co-creators of Reign and now the co-hosts of One Card Shy.

This podcast is where we tap into the collective consciousness (or the quantum field, or the universal mind—whatever you want to call it) to answer deep, weird, personal, and universal questions. And in doing so, we hope to help you learn how to dial up the whisper—that quiet, intuitive voice guiding you to your truth.

But first, we had to get out of our own way.

Overthinking Before Starting? Us? Never. (Okay, Always.)

Like any good spiritual overthinkers, we spent a lot of time wondering:

  • Are we actually ready to launch this podcast?

  • What else do we need to do before we hit record?

  • Are we unknowingly missing some crucial step?

  • Is this going to be… boring?

And the answer we got from the collective consciousness?

👉 “Just f*cking start.”

There was no secret missing piece. No cosmic checklist we had forgotten to complete. Just a very clear get over yourself and do the thing. Because, as they reminded us, practice makes better—not perfect.

Creating a Ritual (Without Making It a Whole Thing)

One useful tip we did get was to create some sort of pre-recording ritual—not as a rigid, mystical process but as a way to get into the right energy.

A key piece of that? Starting each session with our own questions before bringing in the energy of others. We realized that when we answered listener questions first, we got a little stiff—too polite, too careful, too worried about saying the “right” thing.

Meanwhile, when we just talked to our own higher selves? Banter. Sass. Inside jokes. It was fun. So, before diving into readings for others, we’re going to take a few moments to settle into that space—the bubble where we connect to higher wisdom and also keep it real.

Who Are We Even Talking To?

This whole experience led us to another question—when we’re tapping into higher guidance, who exactly are we talking to?

The answer was both simple and mind-blowing:

💡 We’re not just speaking to one voice or entity. We’re pulling from the entire collective consciousness—everything that’s ever been and ever will be. It’s like reaching into an infinite basket of knowledge and pulling out what’s needed in the moment.

💡 Our higher selves are a subset of that. We access the same collective energy each time, but we’re always reaching in the same familiar way. It’s not that we’re talking to a single “entity” with a personality—it’s that we’re pulling wisdom from the same spot in the basket, every time.

Which, if you think about it, is wild.

Letting Go of the Boring, Stiff Version of Ourselves

One of our biggest fears was that our podcast would feel boring—because when we answered listener questions in the beginning, it felt overly formal.

But why?

Because when we connect to our higher selves, we’re comfortable. We’re sarcastic, we joke, we let the energy flow. But when we’re answering for someone else, we unconsciously adjust to their energy, becoming overly careful, polite, and deferential.

And that’s exactly what we’re learning to unlearn.

People are coming to us for a reason—because they like our personalities, our way of interpreting things, our willingness to ask the weird questions. If we try too hard to neutralize ourselves, we lose the magic.

So we’re making a commitment: no dialing ourselves down just because we’re afraid of how something might land.

Our Podcast Values (AKA, How We’re Not Doing This the Traditional Way)

Before we accidentally recorded our first episode, we had started working on our core podcast values. Here’s what we’re keeping front and center:

Authenticity – No pretending, no polished perfection, just real, raw conversations.

Calmness – This isn’t a rush. We’re here to bring clarity, not chaos.

Intuitive Alignment – If it doesn’t feel right, we don’t force it.

Imperfection – We are not here to be flawless, and that’s the point.

No FOMO – No “act now or miss out” energy. Everything will be available when you’re ready.

We’re here to keep this real, accessible, and actually fun.

So, Here We Are.

This wasn’t the blog post we planned to write, just like it wasn’t the episode we planned to record. But it turns out, this is what One Card Shy is about—figuring it out as we go, asking big questions, and sharing what we learn along the way.

If you’re on a journey to deepen your intuition, tap into higher wisdom, and explore the weird and wonderful world of the unseen… welcome. We’re figuring it out right alongside you.
