Day 24: A lovely day

Updated: Dec 18, 2021

I did it! Eight days in Key West by myself — a successful solo trip! It has been equal parts reflection…introspection…listening to my heart…setting intentions…and settling into a more mindful existence. It’s been amazing.

I’ve learned that I can be perfectly happy on my own…in a slightly strange city…and can make new friends, if I choose. I’ve learned to listen to what my heart wants and what my body says it needs.

I’ve read two amazing books by Paulo Coehlo…exploring omens and the possibility of a Personal Legend. I’ve let dreams wash over me while letting go of old dreams that weren’t meant to be…at least not at the moment.

I’m honing in on who I am…who I want to be…and realizing the type of people I want to surround myself with on my journey.

I’ve spent a fair amount of time remembering moments from my trip with Jole and the significance of that trip…even though I didn’t know it at the time. Each day we were here, I played Bill Wither’s Lovely Day….because that’s how each day in paradise felt. I didn’t stop to think that each time, I was setting an intention to look at and feel each day as if it were a lovely day in paradise…no matter where I’m at or who I’m with.

Today I leave Key West to head home to Indy. While I’ll miss the magic of the island, I couldn’t be more excited to see my friends, my family, and my witches because no matter where I am, my heart is filled with magic and I just have to sing “then I look at you and the world’s alright with me”

Goodbye Key West…till we meet again…it’s a lovely daaaaaaaaaaaaaay, lovely day, lovely day, lovely day, LOVELY day.

Departing Key West 🙂
