Since we’re going to be on a flight for 9+ hours today, we decided to play it low key last night. We ventured out for a late lunch, an adult beverage, and some football before heading back to the room. There we watched more football and a movie we “accidentally” rented.
The movie featured Denzel and wasn’t bad. I mean it got a bit ridiculous at the end but you kinda have to suspend reality when watching movies these days.
Denzel’s character was calm, cool, and caring. Oh, and he was a bad ass! But my favorite part of the movie was a quote I jotted down,
“Sometimes we make the wrong choices to get to the right place.”
I couldn’t agree more.
There are multiple paths we can take…numerous lessons we can learn…while still staying true to our purpose. Life isn’t a perfectly straight line. It’s more like one of those “choose your own adventure” books.
At different points along the way, there are choices we can make. We’re presented with options that allow us to express our free will. There are no wrong choices…some might just result in an easier life than others, but there is value in any choice we make. The question is whether we choose to see…and learn…the lessons.
I think it was a lovely coincidence to hear this quote last night (and you know I don’t believe in coincidences). With just a few more days standing between me and wedding #3, I get to hear that message. I get to be reminded that “sometimes we make the wrong choices to get to the right place.”
Yes, some would look at my previous marriages as mistakes….as wrong choices. And maybe they were. But I can honestly say I learned valuable lessons about myself and what I wanted from each. Lessons that led me to this point on the path…today. Lessons that let me to this “right place”.
